Report: Nets to sign Luis Scola

Free agent forward Luis Scola has agreed to a one-year deal with the Brooklyn Nets, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

Scola, 36, was a member of the Raptors team that made the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history in 2015-16. He started 76 regular-season games for Toronto, averaging 8.7 points and 4.7 rebounds. In nine NBA seasons, the Argentine has averaged 12.3 points and 6.8 rebounds.

But Scola hardly played in the postseason for the Raptors after a string of bad performances in the first round against Indiana. The veteran power forward went 3-of-14 from the field in 55 minutes in the first round, and he was 1-of-9 from long distance despite shooting 40.4 percent during the regular season.

Scola probably won’t start for the Nets next season with Robin Lopez and Trevor Booker holding down the front court, but he most definitely will play some as a rotational player coming off the bench.
