Team USA advances in the FIBA U-19 World Championships

Three games in three days, and Team USA advances without being tested. Today's 115-47 win over Russia pushed Team USA's average margin of victory to 61 points.

Seven Americans scored in double figures, led by Jahlil Okafor's 15. Montrezl Harrell (Louisville) added 13 points and 3 steals, while Mike Tobey (Virginia) had 12 points and 9 boards.

Team USA now advances to what is called the Eighth Final Round. The top twelve teams from the preliminaries are grouped into two six-team pods, with the top four teams in each pod advancing to the quarterfinals. Team USA will be in a pod with two teams they've already beaten – China and Russia – as well as Serbia, Australia, and Brazil.

Serbia appears to be the top threat at this point. They have 6-11 Nikola Milutinov who plays professionally in Serbia, as well as 6-8 Nikola Jankovic who reminds some of Kevin Love at the same age, and 6-4 Visilije Micic who is projected as a late first rounder in the 2014 NBA draft.

In the other bracket, Spain and Lithuania both advanced with perfect 3-0 records. On Sunday the teams will get their first day off, and then play resumes on Monday.
