San Francisco 49ers nose tackle Mike Purcell did what most linemen dream of in Sunday’s preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys.
In the second quarter of the exhibition game, Cowboys QB Dustin Vaughan tried to hit tight end Gavin Escobar, who was coming open over the middle.
Purcell attempted to bat the ball down, but managed to take things one step further. He picked off the pass, shrugged off a few would-be tacklers and pulled off a 37-yard pick-six.
This big play will certainly help Purcell’s chances of making the Niners’ 53-man roster once September rolls around.
