Game 1 of the 2015 NBA Finals marked five months since longtime SportsCenter anchor Stuart Scott passed away after a long battle with cancer. Scott was first diagnosed with the disease in 2007, and he courageously battled until his passing.
ABC honored Scott with a touching tribute at halftime of Game 1, in which ESPN’s Sage Steele and Michael Wilbon narrated Scott’s history of covering the NBA Finals. This would’ve been his 19th year covering the league’s most coveted series.
Many sports fans and analysts alike weighed in after the segment aired. The Cavs and Warriors also used their Twitter accounts to pay their respects to the longtime anchor.
Great tribute to Stuart Scott.
