Aqib Talib shot himself in leg over summer, escapes charges

One of the biggest stories of the NFL offseason was Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib getting shot in the leg.

The incident occurred in June, with an unknown suspect listed on the police report.

Apparently the suspect was himself. According to ESPN, police have wrapped up the investigation by coming to the conclusion:

Dallas police have completed their investigation into the June 5 shooting of Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib. They concluded that he shot himself in the leg, according to WFAA television.

Talib wound up missing the White House visit after the Super Bowl while he recovered.

While good news he escapes charges for the self-inflicted incident, Talib still has to deal with the league:

The NFL continues to investigate. Multiple league sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter in recent days that the league had not yet made a decision as to whether Talib would face a suspension.

Internally, the Broncos have at least discussed what they would do if Talib were suspended for one or more games.

While he wasn’t charged, Talib still put the NFL in a negative light and how the league office tends to reply to these sorts of things is hard to tell.

Talib’s Broncos sit on a 4-0 record going into a Week 5 game against the Atlanta Falcons.
