Arkansas Tech Honors Late Teammate, Scores Touchdown

Sometimes things that only happen in sports movies actually do happen in real life.

Earlier this summer, Arkansas Tech defensive lineman Zemaric Holt died in a pool accident at the young age of 21.  To honor their fallen teammate, the Wonder Boys (yes, that is the school’s mascot) chose to play their opening series with only ten defensive players.  What happened on the first play of the game was pure Hollywood.

Southern Nazarene, the opposing school, attempted a reverse, only to have an Arkansas Tech defender rush into the backfield and force a fumble. Linebacker Nick Akins was able to recover the football for a defensive touchdown.

Arkansas Tech went on to win the game 62-14.
