An in-state rivalry got another layer of hatred injected into the matter Sunday when the Corpus Christi Hooks (Houston Astros) and Frisco RoughRiders (Texas Rangers) met on the field of battle.
Literally. Yohander Mendez drilled Danry Vasquez, who didn’t take too kindly to the feeling. Vasquez then charged the mound, creating a bench-clearing altercation.

Close watchers will notice folks tussling the middle of the group, but there is also some action going on on the outskirts of the fight and even stretching right on to home plate. At one point a few police officers come out on the field to help calm the situation.
That’s one way to keep a rivalry interesting.
Several players got tossed, though, and it’s a safe bet plenty of suspensions will come down the pipes, too.
