KeiVarae Russell is getting a second chance with an NFL team after getting cut by the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this week.
NFL insider Rand Getlin reports the Cincinnati Bengals have claimed Russell, who was Kansas City’s third-round pick last April.
Cincinnati Bengals what’s up! Thank you for allowing me to continue this dream out. @Bengals y’all won’t regret this move

Getlin reported yesterday that it was a “special teams numbers game” that led to Russell’s shocking release, and Chiefs coach Andy Reid added it was a “football decision.”
Russell logged 60 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and six pass deflections his final season at Notre Dame. He was the 18th defensive back selected overall in the 2016 draft.
That Kansas City chose to give up on him so quickly came as a big surprise, but it obviously didn’t take long for him to land on another NFL roster.
