Brandon Marshall lost an endorsement deal for kneeling during the national anthem

Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall is feeling the repercussions of his decision to not stand during the national anthem before Thursday night’s season opener.

Air Academy Federal Credit Union, who employed Marshall as an endorser, has ended its working relationship with the fifth-year pro. President/CEO Glenn Strebe announced the decision to cut ties with Marshall in a Facebook post on Friday.

Although we have enjoyed Brandon Marshall as our spokesperson over the past five months, Air Academy Federal Credit Union (AAFCU) has ended our partnership. AAFCU is a membership-based organization who has proudly served the military community for over 60 years. While we respect Brandon’s right of expression, his actions are not a representation of our organization and membership. We wish Brandon well on his future endeavors.

Marshall said after the game Thursday “”I’m not against the military,” he told reporters, according to USA Today Sports.“I’m not against the police or America. I’m against social injustice.”

Marshall followed the example of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick to kneel during the anthem. It will be interesting to see how many other NFL players join in during Week 1 of the regular season.
