Bucks admit they would love to bring Ray Allen out of retirement

The Milwaukee Bucks want to bring Ray Allen out of retirement.

Many teams probably do, but team president Peter Feigin recently admitted in an interview the team has had talks with Allen and wants to get him on board, per Woelfel’s Press Box:

In an interview with WSSP (105.7 FM), Bucks president Peter Feigin acknowledged the Bucks wouldn’t mind having Allen’s services.

Feigin said, “Ray Allen lights everybody up,’’ and that “He (Allen) has been talking to (Bucks GM) John Hammond.’’

Feigin also added, “Ray Allen is someone who gives this entire organization a great shot in the arm.’’

Allen has flirted with the idea of a comeback for a while now. Back in July, reporters revealed the Golden State Warriors wanted to ease him out of retirement so he could join up with Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.

Later, other sources revealed Allen wanted to return to the NBA after a hiatus because he didn’t like how close Curry was getting to his three-point record.

Adam Kaufman posted an interesting angle to the entire ordeal:

The motivation doesn’t really matter in the end. Allen returning to the NBA with the Bucks would make sense considering they’re the team that traded for him right after he was selected fifth overall in 1996. He spent seven years there before the run with Seattle, then the even more recognizable run with Boston.

Allen last played in the league in 2013 with the Miami Heat. He’s undoubtedly still an elite shooter, so the Bucks wouldn’t mind adding him to a core already boasting Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jabari Parker, along with other young talent.

Is acting as a mentor and pushing away Curry enough to entice Allen to return?

The Bucks sure hope so.
