Field turf catches fire before Steelers-Rams game

Are you ready for some football?

Well, they weren’t quite ready in St. Louis, at least not at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The game between the Steelers and Rams was delayed 25 minutes because the turf at the Edward Jones Dome caught fire during pre-game introductions, according to Pro Football Talk.

The damage to the turf was just inside one of the 5-yard lines, which apparently gives new meaning to the term “red zone.” Steelers and Rams players were stretching on the field to keep loose while workers tried to repair the charred section of turf.

The burn almost makes the field resemble a giant cigarette hole on a giant pool table.

After last week’s disappointing loss to the Redskins, the Rams needed a spark, but this wasn’t what they had in mind.
