Carson Wentz being compared to legendary QBs

Eagles rookie sensation Carson Wentz is being placed in the same company with some of the NFL’s best all-time quarterbacks, past and present.

Brian Baldinger of NFL Media said “(Wentz) is Peyton Manning pre-snap, he’s Aaron Rodgers post-snap.”

The Manning part is a nod to Wentz’s preparation. Eagles coach Doug Pederson said that Wentz arrives at the facility at 5:30 a.m. to study tape. The Rodgers part comes from the way Wentz takes care of the ball. He’s the first rookie to throw his first 100 career passes without an interception, and Baldinger said that none of his 102 passes have even come close to being intercepted.

Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich has compared Wentz to former teammate Jim Kelly.

Comparisons to Ben Roethlisberger were all the rage in the buildup to Sunday’s 34-3 win over the Steelers. Roethlisberger went 13-0 as a starter in his rookie year. Even though he has a long way to go, that’s still possible for Wentz. The 3-0 Eagles have a bye this week and go to Detroit in Week 5.
