Colts Fans Injured by Falling Bolts

Just days after an Atlanta Braves fan was killed after toppling from the upper deck at Turner Field, three Indianapolis Colts fans were injured last night when bolts fell from the ceiling at Lucas Oil Stadium. The incident occurred as the roof was being retracted just before halftime during the Colts’ final preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fans present at the game sent out tweets documenting the event.

Two of the three fans required hospitalization due to their injuries. The third person was treated for their injury and released.  There has been no official word regarding the status of the two hospitalized fans.

While millions of fans attend professional sports games each year without incident, we are now seeing fan injuries being reported at an alarming rate. It is still unclear if these injury reports are an increasing trend or simply a result of social media making us all more aware when these events do occur. However, this is certainly a topic that deserves more scrutiny by both professional sports leagues and fans in general.
