The Ohio State Buckeyes just lost a commitment from Danny Clark—a quarterback who has been committed to the program since 2013.
One of the top players in the 2017 class, Clark shockingly dropped a statement on Twitter Tuesday announcing his decision to open himself up to the recruiting proces for the first time.
Out of respect for coaches on OSU staff, I will not be answering any questions on this topic. Ever… pic.twitter.com/KCUR4ZzcaA

This is notable for many reasons, as one can glean from the statement. Clark committed to the Buckeyes as a freshman and even has the team’s logo tattooed on his arm. He was a regular on the sidelines at games and the headline act of the ’17 class.
It was clear Ohio State had no intention of making Clark the clear-cut starter after also bringing on notable quarterback prospect Tate Martell. Given his ability to start right away at another program and not possessing the dual-threat tendencies Martell has and Urban Meyer seems to like, Clark seemed to make a tough choice here.
While surely disappointing, Clark won’t have a hard time latching on with another big program.
Who knows? Maybe he’ll stick in the Big Ten.
