Doug Pederson says Carson Wentz is like a 10-year veteran

So far, so good for Carson Wentz.

The Eagles’ rookie quarterback completed 21 of 34 passes for 190 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions in the Eagles’ 29-14 win at Chicago Monday night.

Wentz is the first rookie quarterback to start and win the first two games of his career without any turnovers, according to ESPN.com.

Eagles coach Doug Pederson says that Wentz has shown the demeanor of a 10-year veteran, according to Pro Football Talk.

Pederson might have started only 17 games in his career, but he once was a 10-year veteran quarterback in the NFL. So that lends some credibility to his assessment.

The Eagles’ coach isn’t chiseling away at Wentz’s bust for Canton just yet, however. He says there are things the rookie needs to work on, like getting rid of the ball to avoid sacks.

But the overall body of work has been just about all the Eagles (2-0) could ask for through two games. Wentz has three touchdown passes and he’s completed 60.6 percent of his passes.

What a weekend for current and former North Dakota State players. The Bison stunned Iowa 23-21 on Saturday and received AP Top 25 votes, and Wentz is showing that players from that Football Championship Series school can be NFL-ready.
