Ezekiel Elliott calls visit to weed shop ‘a bad decision’

Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott is seeing the error in his ways.

Elliott, 21, says he was just curious when he visited a legal marijuana shop in Seattle before last Thursday’s preseason game against the Seahawks but admits it was a bad decision on his part.

“It was a bad decision,” Elliott said, via Clarence Hill of the Star-Telegram. “Just seen it walking around. I was curious. Didn’t really think about it before I went in what the repercussions could have been. It wasn’t like I was trying to hide it or anything. I took pictures with people. It wasn’t like I was up to no good.”

“I was curious. I didn’t think I was doing anything wrong. I wasn’t breaking any laws or anything. It was a bad decision. It was something I shouldn’t have done. But I know now.”

As TMZ Sports reported, Elliott did not purchase or smoke anything while inside the shop, but Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was not happy with his first-round pick, calling the visit “not good.”

“You definitely got to think of the perception of things before you actually do certain things,” Elliott told the Star-Telegram. “It may not seem like a big deal to you yourself but there is a bigger picture. It’s definitely a learning experience about the scrutiny. You just got to be careful and not give anyone a chance to say anything.”

Elliott probably realizes now that he’s in the spotlight as a professional football player for one of the league’s most recognizable teams. Everything he says or does will be out there for the media to capture.
