Hue Jackson wasn’t surprised by Terrelle Pryor’s do-it-all performance

Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson wasn’t surprised Terrelle Pryor produced a stat line never before seen in NFL history on Sunday in Miami.

“That’s what I expect from Terrelle,” Jackson said, via Cleveland.com. “I’ve known Terrelle for a while. He’s capable of a lot. You guys might be surprised; I’m not. He’s a very talented player. His best football is still ahead of him.”

Topping Sunday’s performance will be difficult for Pryor, who played both receiver and Wildcat quarterback during Cleveland’s 30-24 defeat.

According to ESPN Stats and Information, Pryor became the first NFL player ever to produce a game with at least 140 receiving yards, 30 passing yards and 20 rushing yards.

The Browns eventually lost to the Dolphins in overtime, but Pryor did all he could to keep Cleveland’s injury-plagued offense in the game—completing 3-of-5 passes for 35 yards, rushing for 21 yards and a touchdown, and catching eight passes for 144 yards.

The last player to come close to Pryor’s do-it-all numbers? Frank Gifford in 1959, when the former New York Giants great threw for 38 yards, rushed for 46 yards and produced 129 receiving yards.

“I can’t say enough about the job Terrelle Pryor did,” receiver Andrew Hawkins said, via ESPN. “He really put the offense on his back when he got the opportunity.”

Overall, Pryor was responsible for 200 of Cleveland’s 430 total yards, and he produced four of the Browns’ longest five plays. He rushed for a short touchdown in the second half, and his 40-yard catch-and-run set up Cleveland’s game-tying field goal late in the fourth quarter.

“It’s a shame that we lost, because people will forget but that was one of the single-handed most impressive performances from a player that I’ve seen in awhile,” said offensive tackle Joe Thomas. “It was pretty amazing for a guy that wasn’t really in the league last year.”
