Hunter Pence takes foul ball off face, left with nasty bruise

Hunter Pence is as tough as they come, and he showed that in Saturday night’s game against the Nationals when he fouled a pitch off his face.

It happened in the second inning of the game, when Stephen Strasburg took a little bit off a pitch and hurled an 88 mph slider toward the dish. Pence managed to reach out and get a piece of it, but it pinged off the dirt and hit him right in the face.

Check out the nasty bruise he was left with.

Manager Bruce Bochy spoke about the unfortunate incident after the game.

Ouch.
