Jameis Winston throws pick-six in first pass of NFL career

Jameis Winston’s first career start in an NFL regular season game didn’t begin like he had hoped.

After putting together a few solid performances during preseason play, expectations were high for the No. 1 overall pick in the draft heading into Sunday’s game against the Titans.

But when he attempted his first NFL pass early in the game, he threw it to Titans cornerback Coty Sensabaugh, who returned it 26 yards for a touchdown.

Winston never should’ve thrown the ball to the flat. Sensabaugh was draped over Adam Humphries, and the Bucs receiver was never open. Sensabaugh stepped in front of him as the ball left Winston’s hands, and the rest was history.

Fellow rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota threw a touchdown pass on his first drive, too, except it was to Kendall Wright. Winston’s touchdown, on the other hand, went to the wrong team.
