In case you didn’t already know, 49ers running back Jarryd Hayne is a former rugby player, which he made apparent in Thursday night’s preseason game against the Chargers.
Hayne, who is quickly becoming a fan favorite, lowered the boom on Chargers cornerback Lowell Rose in the third quarter of the game.
Check out how he eluded a would-be tackler and then steamrolled Rose, who probably won’t be getting in his way again anytime soon.
Hayne put together a solid all-around performance in the game and has a decent chance of making the 49ers’ 53-man roster once final cuts are announced.
#JarrydHayne final stats V Chargers:
10 runs – 58 yards
2 catches – 17 yards
3 returns – 43 yards
1 coverage tackle
Grade: Think he makes 53

Hayne is one of those players who makes the game more exciting when he’s on the field, and I certainly hope we get to see him out there making plays during the regular season.
