For the second time in four games, Jayson Werth delivered a walk-off hit for the Washington Nationals. His most recent came on Wednesday evening against the Chicago Cubs — capping off on a thrilling 5-4, 12-inning victory in D.C.
It’s been a standout week for the 37-year-old outfielder. He’s posted a .421 batting average over the past seven days and a .333 mark in June. This, after batting just .211 in April and .235 for May.
Those lower-than-average totals have prompted some in the media to question his place in the Nats’ starting lineup. Not willing to mince words, Werth had a ready answer during his on-field interview following Wednesday’s game-winner.

After Sunday’s walk-off, Werth revealed a interesting nickname for closer Jonathan Papelbon. So, I guess you have to hope Jayson has more dramatics in him this year — because who knows what he’s going to say.
