It wasn’t a fight, but it sure was close.
The New York Jets and Cleveland Browns are two physical, grind-it-out teams, so when they squared off on Sunday, it didn’t take long for fireworks to erupt.
The Browns went to bat for their quarterback, when Josh McCown fumbled after trying to leap into the end zone. He took a big hit and ended up doing some sort of helicopter spin, and the Jets recovered the fumble.
Browns center Alex Mack and others backed up McCown, and a scuffle broke out.
Mack was hit with an unnecessary roughness penalty for grabbing a facemask, and the shoving match eventually ended. But it was fun to watch, because football is officially back.
