Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto got into it with a fan during Tuesday night’s game against the Cardinals at Great American Ball Park.
Votto was trying to catch a foul ball that was headed toward the stands in the seventh inning, but unfortunately, a fan was attempting to do the same. The two bumped into each other, got tangled up and the ball fell to the ground.
The Reds first baseman wasn’t happy about the missed opportunity, so he grabbed the fan’s shirt by the team’s logo, indicating that the fan wasn’t really helping the team he supposedly supports.

Cooler heads eventually prevailed, though. Votto went over to the fan and apologized.

The Reds slugger also signed a ball and gave it to the fan.
This is awesome. Joey Votto signs a ball with an apology for a fan who he interacted with on a foul ball. #MLBonFS1 pic.twitter.com/h7glbaTRfg

We can’t blame Votto for reacting the way he did in the heat of the moment. Props to him for making things right afterwards.
