Johnny Manziel speaks about photos that surfaced from Texas A&M trip

Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel has, once again, been dealing with criticism for his off-the-field activities. This time it was for visiting Texas A&M this past weekend.

Manziel, who started under center for the Browns in Thursday night’s 31-10 loss to the Bengals, may have been better off staying in Ohio to learn from his mistakes and watch film to prepare for the team’s upcoming divisional showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Instead, he elected to return to College Station and snapped tons of photos with college coeds, one of which showed him holding what looked to be a beer in his hand.

Manziel downplayed the significance of the photos that surfaced from the trip in speaking about them to the media for the first time on Wednesday.

“I probably took 2,000 pictures this weekend, those are the ones that happened to be blasted out on social media,” Manziel said. “I took a lot of pictures with a lot of people and I think I made a lot of people happy.”

So there you have it, Manziel was just out there making people happy. As far as this weekend’s game, head coach Mike Pettine said that Josh McCown will be the starter once again if he’s healthy on Tuesday, which would put Manziel back on the bench. We have to wonder if Manziel’s off-the-field activities had anything to do with his decision.
