Judge issues warrant for Josh Gordon’s arrest in paternity case

Just what the Browns needed, more Josh Gordon distractions.

The wide receiver is halfway through his four-game substance abuse suspension, but there’s a warrant out for his arrest in connection with a paternity suit, according to Cleveland.com.

Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court Judge Alison Floyd authorized the arrest warrant Aug. 31 after Gordon failed to respond to multiple subpoenas.

Christina Lockhart says Gordon is the father of her 1-year-old daughter and she’s seeking child support. The complaint was filed last year, and Gordon was ordered to provide a DNA sample by Sept. 25, 2015. He never did.

Gordon’s base salary is $817,016, according to Spotrac. He is scheduled to return from his suspension Oct. 9 when the Browns host the Patriots.

The Browns are 0-2 and already down to their third quarterback, rookie Cody Kessler. Their next two games are at Miami and at Washington, and Week 5 against New England with Tom Brady back won’t be a picnic even with Gordon returning.

Gordon was a First Team All-Pro in 2013, leading the NFL with 1,646 receiving yards. He was suspended for the first 10 games of the 2014 season and all of last season for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. He hasn’t played since Week 16 of the 2014 season.
