Ken Griffey Jr., in his playing days, was the best athlete in Seattle sports history.
As such, he’s going to be receiving a huge honor, and soon.
The Mariners retired his jersey on Saturday night, and #24 drew quite the crowd during a pretty cool ceremony. The great Willie Mays even recorded a video message for him which was displayed on the videoboard.
Here’s what it all looked like.

It’s been a pretty good year for Griffey, who was also elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame back in January.
