LSU vs. Florida postponed due to Hurricane Matthew

The SEC took its time, but it turns out the LSU Tigers and Florida Gators won’t play in what could be a Grade 4 hurricane.

Expected to make an announcement Thursday, the SEC dragged its feet before going official with the news.

NFL Network’s Albert Breer and others provided the announcement:

Stewart Mandel provided a simple solution:

The SEC might want to go ahead with that idea, as neither program has another common open date for the game to occur. For now, it’s postponed with nothing in the way of a makeup day planned.

While expected, it’s a disappointing development. LSU might be 3-2, but the program has much in the way of work to do in order to reinvent itself. A game against 4-1 Florida, also trying to hit on an upswing, provided that.

For now, the game simply gets erased from the schedule.
