Malawian newspaper seems to use ‘Crying Jordan’ all wrong

It was bound to happen.

The Crying Jordan meme is an epic tale of the internet taking something and running with it in hilarious fashion. Sometimes these gems get deployed in a not-so-hilarious way, though.

Apparently it’s what a Malawian newspaper did recently, according to Twitter user @daliballz:

Actually, it is pretty funny.

The topic? Not so much. Michael Jordan recently penned a must-read column at The Undefeated, demanding social change after the continued killings by police and targeting of police in the United States. Not only is it the first time Jordan has widely stepped up for a cause like this given his influence, he revealed he’d donate $2 million of his own money to various organizations to help in the efforts.

Such is what the alleged newspaper was trying to cover. Now, if Crying Jordan wasn’t a thing, the picture might make sense.

The Internet wins this one in funny fashion. So long as those spreading it don’t forget what the message is truly about, no harm done.
