Melvin Gordon scores first career touchdown (VIDEO)

It took him a year to do it, but Chargers running back Melvin Gordon scored his first career touchdown Sunday against the Chiefs.

Gordon scored on a 1-yard run to give the Chargers a 7-3 lead over the favored Chiefs in the first quarter at Kansas City.

Gordon, chosen with the 15th pick in the 2015 draft, was largely a disappointment in his rookie season. He ran for 641 yards, averaging 3.5 yards per carry. In his first three carries Sunday, he had 16 yards.

It might have looked like more of the same for Gordon when he lost two yards on his first carry, but later in the drive he ran for 17 yards to move the ball to the Chiefs’ 7-yard line and eventually gave the Chargers the lead with his 1-yard plunge.
