The Toronto Blue Jays are loaded with power. It’s not a tremendous surprise that one of their hitters went deep three times in a single game. But the name of that hitter is somewhat unexpected.
Michael Saunders recorded the baseball ‘hat trick’ — connecting on a trio of home runs and totaling a career-high eight runs batted in as the Blue Jays crushed the Baltimore Orioles, 13-3, Friday night at Camden Yards.
His first big fly came in the opening inning with two runners on and sailed over the left field fence. He added another three-run blast in the fourth inning. Then, he launched a two-run shot in the sixth inning.
So two hitters have homered three times in one game vs Os this year: Mookie Betts and now Michael Saunders. And we’re in June people.

An attempt to get historic No. 4 went for naught in the top of the eighth. But this performance is the unquestioned highlight of a standout season for the 29-year-old British Columbia native. Saunders now has 15 home runs, a .307 batting average, a .569 slugging percentage, and an OPS of .953.
