There haven’t been many highlights for the Minnesota Twins in 2016. With a 24-51 record and 20.5 games out of first place in the AL Central, all chances of contention are gone.
But on Sunday at Yankee Stadium, the Twins were the ‘Bronx Bombers’ of that afternoon — belting three in a row in the sixth inning.
Starting it off was Brian Dozier with a two-run shot to left field to extend the Minnesota lead to 3-0. Then, Trevor Plouffe followed with a round-tripper (also to left). Max Kepler completed the trifecta with a blast over the right field fence.
In all, the Twins had six home runs in a 7-1 victory. Not to be forgotten was the pitching performance of starter Tyler Duffey, who retired the first 17 Yankees and gave up just two hits and one earned run in eight innings of work.
