Nick Young isn’t mad at D’Angelo Russell anymore over Iggy Azalea video

Nick Young and D’Angelo Russell of the Los Angeles Lakers have made up.

The two were part of this odd video saga last year where Russell recorded Young allegedly talking about how he cheats on his ex-fiance, singer Iggy Azalea. In fact, she confirmed by catching him on a security camera. Russell went on to appear in a Foot Locker commercial Young wasn’t too happy about.

Time does seem to heal all wounds, though, because Young recently spoke with Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News about his relationship with Russell:

“We’re teammates,” Young told the Southern California News Group. “It’s been so long, so it’s kind of old. We’ll be able to work it out. We’ve already been working it out. It is what it is. I can’t be mad forever.”

“I need my commercial now,” Young said, laughing. “I’ll explain what happened to my life.”

The Lakers have to be happy they avoided inner turmoil here. Though some figured he might not stick with the team, Young appears like a key depth presence for the Lakers next season while the coaching staff gets the younger guys some experience.

Russell, of course, is one of the key elements behind the organization’s overall rebuild. He showed flashes last year but didn’t receive the most playing time under then-coach Byron Scott. The proverbial gloves figure to come off this season and lockerroom turmoil wouldn’t have helped things.

The beef publicly squashed, the Lakers can turn toward the court together.
