With each Chase Utley at-bat against the Mets, everyone immediately wonders if New York pitchers will take some retaliatory measure for what happened last October.
Whether it simply got away from him or he intended to do it, we might not know for sure. Nonetheless, Noah Syndergaard threw behind Chase Utley in the top of the third on Saturday night. Instead of issuing a warning, home plate umpire Adam Hamari immediatley ejected the Mets right-hander from the game.
Retaliation? Noah Syndergaard threw behind Chase Utley & was ejected.
Terry Collins was livid & got tossed too.https://t.co/LqL4Qax0YS

Utley broke a guy’s leg and he didn’t even get tossed out, Noah didn’t even touch him and you throw him out… Just ridiculous.

Terry Collins came out, obviously livid, and got tossed as well. Logan Verrett came in relief of Syndergaard. The sellout Citi Field crowd, instead of getting to watch one of its prized young pitchers perform, got to see an umpire steal the show.
