Pablo Sandoval joined the Boston Red Sox at Tropicana Field on Wednesday and worked out at third base before batting practice looking noticeably trimmer. WEEI’s Rob Bradford reports Sandoval has lost 22 pounds during his rehabilitation after undergoing shoulder surgery in early May. Here’s proof:

Sandoval, 30, showed up to spring training overweight. He appeared in three games for the Red Sox this season, going 0-for-6 with four strikeouts and a walk.
Sandoval has had weight issues in the past, but he looks to be on the right track for spring training 2017. Last year, Sandoval batted a career-low .245 in his debut season with Boston. Up til now, he’s been a major disappointment for the club. But if he takes this seriously, Sandoval might be able to regain form here as a member of the Red Sox.
