Pacers, Paul George have reportedly discussed contract extension

After witnessing the best year of Paul George’s career last season, the Indiana Pacers have begun preliminary contract extension talks with their star player.

George, 26, has three years left on a five-year deal he signed back in 2013.

After missing practically the entire 2014-15 season because of a horrific leg injury, George came back stronger than ever in 2016. He averaged 23.1 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 81 regular-season games.

The All-Star forward played even better during the postseason, averaging 27.3 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists in a seven-game series against the Toronto Raptors. Only Kevin Durant had a higher scoring average during the playoffs (28.4).

George solidified himself as one of the top players in the NBA last season. The Pacers recognize that and are working to lock him up.
