Who knows if Pete Rose will ever enter the National Baseball Hall of Fame. For now, he is permanently enshrined in the history of the team he is most associated with and the city where he grew up.
On Sunday at Great American Ballpark, Rose had his No. 14 retired by the Cincinnati Reds prior to their game against the Padres. This coming a day after MLB’s all-time hit leader was inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame and during a weekend in which the 1976 World Series championship club was celebrated.

Rose’s number is the 10th retired by the Reds, baseball’s first professional franchise. Others include teammates Johnny Bench, Tony Perez, Joe Morgan, as well as manager Sparky Anderson.
The decision to have the ceremony had to be approved by MLB due to Rose’s lifetime ban.
