Raucous Phillies fan ejected for heckling (VIDEO)

Bob Davidson is known for being a no-nonsense umpire and has ejected plenty of players and managers during his tenure. Tuesday night’s Giants-Phillies game at Citizens Bank Park featured him sending someone packing, which is nothing new, except this time it was a fan.

Maybe the fan was upset that the Phillies jumped out to a 6-0 lead, only to see the game tied soon after due to a five-run spurt by the Giants in the first half of the fifth inning. Or, maybe the fan was just living up to the reputation that often comes along with being a Philadelphia sports fan.

Whatever the reason, Davidson stopped the game in the top of the sixth inning to walk over and eject the fan.

It wasn’t the first time Davidson has done this, either. He ejected a fan back in September 2010 in a game between the Cardinals and Brewers at Miller Park. However, as trigger-happy as Davidson may be, it seems the ejection was warranted. The fan was reportedly hurling homophobic suggestions at the umpire, who, at that point, had probably had enough.

Fans can be jerks, and being that Phillies fans cheered as he was ejected, he must’ve been acting like a total jerk. If that was indeed the case, he should be banned from attending MLB games for an extended period of time.
