Redskins Twitter Account Urges Fans to Call Out Senator Harry Reid

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has been one of the main advocates lobbying to change the name of the Washington Redskins franchise.

So of course the team used its Twitter account to fight back—asking fans to voice their opinions by sending tweets to the senator earlier today. Unfortunately for them, it’s not a great idea to start social media wars with senators, and probably won’t end well.

This was probably in response to Reid’s recent comments in the Washington Post. “He’s [Snyder] going to throw a few blankets to the Indians and get a tax deduction for it,” he said. “I can’t imagine why the man doesn’t realize that the name is going to change.”

While we don’t know what #RedskinsPride actually means, we now know it’s a thing.

Some things are better left unsaid. The Redskins are barking up the wrong tree here, and this was an example of “bad” PR.

Reid took the high road and did not respond to the tweet.
