Report: Max Unger, Saints agree to three-year extension

The New Orleans Saints and center Max Unger have agreed to a three-year extension, Herbie Teope of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. The deal is reportedly worth more than $21 million.

The Saints acquired Unger and a 2015 first-round pick from the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for tight end Jimmy Graham in a March 2015 trade. New Orleans used that pick to select linebacker Stephone Anthony, who led the team in tackles last season with 112.

Unger was a two-time Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro during his six-year stint with Seattle, and he celebrated a Super Bowl title with the Seahawks in 2014. The 30-year-old center started all 16 games for the Saints last season and was ranked ninth overall at his position by Pro Football Focus.

The Saints know who will be snapping the ball for the next couple of years but who takes those snaps is still unclear, as quarterback Drew Brees is entering the final year of his contract.
