Report: Mike Trout uninjured in freeway car crash

Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout was involved in a car crash in Orange County after his game Wednesday night that left one person with major injuries.

According to a report from the California Highway Patrol obtained by the Orange County Register, Trout swerved to avoid traffic that came to a stop in front of him and the right-front of his car collided with the rear bumper of a Chevrolet Sonic. The impact pushed the compact car forward and spun it in a clockwise rotation until the left side of the Chevrolet collided into the rear of a GMC truck.

Trout and the driver of the truck got out to check on the driver of the Chevrolet, a 27-year-old woman who was taken to the hospital with “major injuries,” according to A.J. Perez of USA TODAY Sports.

Authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.

Angels GM Billy Eppler released the following statement early Thursday morning:

Mike Trout was involved in a car accident earlier tonight. I have spoken with Mike this evening and he feels fine. He is at home with his roommate and is planning on traveling with the club to Seattle tomorrow afternoon. We will update as more information becomes available.

Trout, 25, did not play in the Angels’ 3-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds Wednesday night.
