Report: Orioles acquire Wade Miley from Mariners

The Baltimore Orioles’ pitching rotation was made up entirely of right-handers. Not anymore.

Lefty Wade Miley was traded from the Seattle Mariners to Baltimore in exchange for Cuban pitching prospect Ariel Miranda, reports Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.

The Orioles are banking on the Miley they saw pitch a gem against the Chicago Cubs on Saturday and not the Miley who is 7-8 with a 4.98 ERA this year.

Against Chicago on Saturday, Miley threw six no-hit innings and struck out nine in a 4-1 win at Wrigley.

A first-round pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2008, Miley became an All-Star in his first season as a regular starter in 2012, but his ERA has gone up ever since. On the bright side, he has started at least 29 games in each of the past four seasons.

The Orioles are Miley’s fourth team in two years. We’ll see how things go for him.
