Report: Thunder acquire Joffrey Lauvergne from Nuggets

The Oklahoma City Thunder must have been watching the Rio Olympics to trade for Joffrey Lauvergne.

Per ESPN.com’s Royce Young, the Thunder sent two 2017 second-round picks to the Denver Nuggets to acquire Lauvergne, who averaged 9.8 points and 4.2 rebounds with the French National team this summer. He was at his best against some of the better teams in the tournament, scoring 12 points against Serbia, Spain and USA.

Lauvergne, 24, appeared in 59 games for the Nuggets last season, averaging 7.9 points and 4.9 rebounds. The 6-foot-11, 220-pound Lauvergne gives the Thunder even more depth in the frontcourt to go along with Steven Adams, Enes Kanter, Ersan Ilyasova, Domantas Sabonis, Nick Collison and Mitch McGary.

After losing Kevin Durant and Serge Ibaka during the offseason, the Thunder have done a good job to add plenty of depth to the roster, though it will be difficult to replace the scoring and defense Durant and Ibaka brought to the team.
