Rex Ryan goes off at team meeting in documentary

Bills coach Rex Ryan might not be letting on publicly that he’s worried about his job security if the Bills don’t make the playoffs.

Behind closed doors, however, he said he’s willing to fall on the sword if the Bills fall short of the postseason. The message was laced with f-bombs and filmed in a documentary called “Rex and Rob Reunited” that has aired in the Buffalo area, according to ESPN.com.

“I’m going to tell you we’re the (expletive) best because I believe it. Let me (expletive) say it. And if it doesn’t work, I’ll be the first (expletive) that goes,” Ryan said at a team meeting early in training camp.

The tirade featured at least a dozen other bleeps.

The Bills finished 8-8 in Ryan’s first season as head coach and missed the playoffs for the 16th consecutive year. It’s the longest playoff drought among the four major North American sports.

The Bills didn’t provide much evidence that they can end that drought in their 13-7 loss at Baltimore in Week 1.

But Ryan can make any situation entertaining. If this turns out to be his last year as a head coach, he’s going to go out kicking and screaming.
