Tiger Woods delays return to golf, nixes Safeway Open

So much for the Tiger Woods comeback at the Safeway Open.

Woods had planned to make his long-anticipated return to the sport this week after a pair of back surgeries.

The good news? It doesn’t sound like Woods pulling a false start has anything to do with injuries:

It’s hard to say when Woods will feel like his game is where it needs to be. It goes without saying, though, that the sport needs him:

Woods listed other future tournaments as places he’d play at, but those were mentioned in a September press release. For now, presume Woods will remain on the shelf until he announces otherwise.
