So much for the Tiger Woods comeback at the Safeway Open.
Woods had planned to make his long-anticipated return to the sport this week after a pair of back surgeries.
The good news? It doesn’t sound like Woods pulling a false start has anything to do with injuries:
"He just didn't feel like his game is where he wanted it to be to be competitive."

Tiger Woods reportedly will withdraw from this week's Safeway Open.
It has been 414 days since his last competitive round of golf.

It’s hard to say when Woods will feel like his game is where it needs to be. It goes without saying, though, that the sport needs him:

Woods listed other future tournaments as places he’d play at, but those were mentioned in a September press release. For now, presume Woods will remain on the shelf until he announces otherwise.
