Uruguay players confused when stadium plays wrong national anthem

Someone who works at the University of Phoenix Stadium is likely in trouble after the wrong pre-game audio was played before Sunday’s Mexico-Uruguay match.

The pre-game ceremony started like a normal one would, as Mexico’s players heard their national anthem blaring through the PA system. However, Uruguay’s players were quite confused afterward when their turn came. Instead of the country’s “Himno Nacional,” players and fans in attendance heard Chile’s national anthem instead.

Needless to say, the players seemed quite confused when the wrong audio clip was played.

The funny thing is that Chile isn’t even scheduled to play any matches at that particular stadium, which makes the whole sequence of events even weirder.

Copa America Centario released a statement apologizing for the mix-up.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is what we call an epic fail.
