Usain Bolt chats about the time he raced Mickey Rourke

Usain Bolt once raced actor Mickey Rourke.

Of course he did.

The sporting world has heard rumblings about Rourke challenging Bolt to a footrace in the streets of London since 2012. Rourke said as much in an interview with Yahoo Sports.

Bolt, though, has finally broken his silence on the matter. He spoke with TIME:

“Mickey Rourke was of the biggest ones,” Bolt told TIME. “One night in London, I saw him and he was like: ‘Yo, we have to’ and I was ‘Nah’, I felt like he was joking. But he say ‘No, let’s go!’ Took his shoes off and everything.”

Rourke admitted he demanded a head start and yes, it was a drunken affair with plenty of onlookers. He also claims, of course, that he won the race.

No word from Bolt as to whether the last part is true. Either way, it is hard to imagine Bolt can get anywhere without a challenge. This one just happens to be a little more high profile than the others.

After a night of drinking or not, hats off to Rourke for throwing down the challenge.
