Vikings won’t reveal starting QB vs. Packers until Sunday

For the second straight week, the Minnesota Vikings won’t commit to a starting quarterback until kickoff.

According to head coach Mike Zimmer, the Vikings will once again wait to reveal their starting quarterback for Sunday night’s showdown with the Green Bay Packers.

The Vikings held their cards close at quarterback last week, eventually picking veteran Shaun Hill to start the team’s Week 1 win over the Tennessee Titans. Hill started slow, but finished completing 18-of-33 passes for 236 yards and no touchdowns or interceptions. However, the Vikings settled for six field goal attempts and did not score an offensive touchdown.

It’s possible newcomer Sam Bradford will make a serious run at starting on Sunday night.

The Vikings dealt a first- and fourth-round pick for Bradford, and when he’s ready to operate within Norv Turner’s offense, he’ll replace Hill under center. By kickoff on Sunday, Bradford will have been on the Vikings roster for just over two weeks.

Minnesota is playing its first regular season game at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday night. Both the Packers and Vikings are 1-0 are beating AFC South foes on the road in Week 1.
