Watch Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s speech at Democratic National Convention

Part of what made Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar so great on the court was his high basketball IQ. His positioning, instincts and awareness allowed him to be one step ahead of his opponents game after game.

Since retiring, Abdul-Jabbar has shown he’s just as intelligent off the court as he was on it. The former NBA great has spoken about many social issues over the years, attempting to do his part to spark change.

Abdul-Jabbar was invited to speak at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia on Thursday, in an attempt to convince voters to vote for Hillary Clinton.

He even injected some humor into his speech, opening it up by claiming he was Michael Jordan because Donald Trump “couldn’t tell the difference.” Zing!

I could listen to Abdul-Jabbar speak about even the most boring topic. He’s pretty great.
