The Chicago Bears’ Teddy Williams impeded Panthers punt returner Philly Brown’s ability to make a clean catch of the football, but that didn’t stop the Carolina punt returner from coming up with the loose ball and returning it 79 yards for a touchdown.
The electrifying return down the left sideline gave the Panthers an early 7-0 lead and sparked what has already been a rough day for the Bears. Bears quarterback Jay Cutler threw an interception on the team’s ensuing offensive drive.
