White Sox outfielders involved in nasty collision (VIDEO)

Jason Coats got a rude welcome to the big leagues.

Making his first MLB appearance on Saturday afternoon at Detroit’s Comerica Park, Coats was inserted in left field. He ran after a Miguel Cabrera fly ball in the seventh inning. But so was center fielder J.B. Shuck.

Just as Coats made the catch, he and Shuck gruesomely collided in the gap. Coats somehow held on to the ball, but suffered the brunt of the incident. He would leave the game — woozy and bleeding from his mouth.

It wasn’t the first time he was hit this day. Earlier, at the plate, Coats was drilled by a pitch.
